Cambridge, February 2006 - The $100 laptop, first announced by Nicholas Negroponte, chairman and co-founder of the Media Lab at MIT at the World Economic Forum in January, is an ultra-low-cost, full-featured computer designed to dramatically enhance children's primary and secondary education worldwide. LAMS creates "digital lesson plans" that can be run online with students as well as shared among teachers. In 2006 there will also be several smaller Megaconference Jr. Mini-Forums that will give students the opportunity to actively participate in additional interactive sessions prior to the main Megaconference Jr. event.
